‘I had no idea’: Brampton homeowner shocked to learn his basement advertised for rent

Our Speakers Corner takes us to Brampton where one homeowner was shocked to find out the basement of his home was being advertised online for rent. Even worse, at least one potential tenant is out nearly $1,200.Don Cunningham is now forced to post a sign on the garage of the Brampton home he’s owned for decades. That sign warns people that there is no basement to rent.“I had to put this up because people keep visiting my home asking about a rental that I had no idea was even being advertised,” Cunningham said.It all started in the beginning of June when a woman knocked on his door.“She came up to me and said ‘I understand you have a basement apartment for rent.’ I said ‘not at this place.'”But those who responded to an ad on Kijiji said his address was given out by a person advertising a basement for rent. Cunningham had not seen it until CityNews showed it to him. It’s like a nugget of distilled Greta Van Fleet.“Runway Blues” has the bluster of the Rolling Stones, the driving force of Led Zeppelin, a dash of Humble Pie and some John Lennon solo work. It was captured spontaneously as the band came back from dinner and just started jamming.“We just had a bit too much wine and I just sort of cracked into a riff and everybody kind of jumped on instruments,” says guitarist Jake Kiszka. “It’s really basic and it’s just a great example of what can be accomplished with pure attitude.”The quartet show plenty of rock star attitude on “Starcatcher,” the Michigan-bred rockers’ third album. CHICAGO — At least three people are in critical condition after being shot multiple times on the city's South Side.The shooting happened just before 9 a.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.According to police, three people — two women and a man — suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to a hospital in critical condition.Circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time.No further information has been provided by authorities.This is a developing story. BEACH PARK, Ill. — A man died early Monday due to punching the window of a bar after getting kicked out.At around 2 a.m., authorities responded to a bar in the 37800 block of North Sheridan Road, located in Beach Park, on the report of a injured person.Following a preliminary investigation, authorities believe Jonathan Banks, 32, of Chicago, got into a verbal altercation with another person at the bar and was escorted out by security.After being escorted outside, authorities said Banks punched his fist through a window of the bar. 3 seriously injured in rollover crash on South Side He sustained a severe laceration to his arm and was transported to Vista Medical Center East in critical condition.Banks died at the hospital.
