(NEXSTAR) – Starting on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 14 an annular, or partial, solar eclipse will pass over the United States, as well as Central and South America.Millions of Americans will be able to see the phenomenon, but only a handful of cities in the "path of annularity," or the maximum amount of obscuration, will see the "ring of fire" created when the moon lines up perfectly with the sun, leaving only the burning rim visible. How to watch the 2023 solar eclipse safely – and what you should never do The 2023 solar eclipse will stream live in a player at the top of this article for those well outside of the path of annularity, but if you're planning on breaking out the eclipse glasses and seeing it for yourself, this map shows viewing times for a number of cities:If you aren't able to travel to the 150-mile-wide path of annularity, you can still see a partial view of the eclipse. The 80-90% range includes portions of California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming,...WATCH LIVE: NASA launch sets sights on metal-rich asteroid, possible core of small planet

(NEXSTAR) — NASA's Psyche mission is scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket this morning to start a nearly six-year mission to a "metal-rich" asteroid. The mission namesake is also the target: Asteroid 16 Psyche. While NASA has conducted a number of asteroid-related missions, including the recent return of its first asteroid samples, this will be the agency's first mission to an asteroid which they believe has more metal than rock or ice. While there won't be a return trip for the Psyche spacecraft, scientists hope to confirm a theory from afar. They hypothesize the asteroid, which is 173 miles in diameter at its widest point, could actually be the leftover core of a planetesimal, or very small planet. If confirmed, the study of 16 Psyche could offer a look at what might be Earth's own center and how our planet was created. ST. LOUIS - There's a lot of buzz about the annual solar eclipse happening Saturday.Unfortunately, Mother Nature isn't going to give St. Louis a great view of what would have been a partial eclipse for us. However, a fantastic "ring of fire" will be visible in the sky across the west and southwest. St. Louis youth football coach recovering after shooting, suspect charged Trevor Knuth, a postdoctoral research fellow and solar astrophysicist with NASA, spoke with FOX 2's Angela Hutti about how these eclipses happen and their importance to science. Knuth also explained how this annular solar eclipse isn't a total eclipse. There is a difference. He added that while this is exciting for those in the ring of fire path, it is especially important to researchers.Keeler: Coach Prime says he won’t put a “pitch count” on CU Buffs 2-way star Travis Hunter. He should. Here’s why.

BOULDER — I swear on my John Stearns rookie card, if Travis Hunter plays, the Buffs beat USC.Instead of throwing six touchdowns at Folsom Field on Sept. 30, daring CU to climb out of the Tonga Trench, Trojans QB Caleb Williams slings it for, say, four scores. Hunter picks the future No. 1 pick off twice. The Buffs come all the way back.Bedlam ensues. Lincoln Riley eats a giant crow burger, Joel Klatt kisses Gus Johnson on national television, Will Ferrell weeps, and the Deion Sanders hype train revs at 250 mph instead of the usual 195.We’ll never know, of course. Hunter was there that day, stuck coaching like crazy from the sidelines, all because he was recovering from a lacerated liver. An injury suffered on a blindside hit last month while running around … as a receiver.Sanders has intimated that when Hunter returns, starting with the Buffs’ matchup against Stanford late Friday, that there will be no pitch counts, no conditions, no restrictions, no caveats. Israel’s war with Hamas has now entered its seventh day with causalities mounting on both sides of the conflict.Law enforcement agencies in the Los Angeles area are among many stepping up security on Friday after former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal called for supporters to flood the streets for a “Day of Jihad.”The uprising, Meshaal says, is a response “to the Zionists and their criminal leaders and what they wrought, and to the Americans who came to their aid.” In his speech, Meshaal called for the “Ummah to engage in battle” and for supporters to fight as “jihad is an individual responsibility.”“I think it’s very scary,” said John Paul, a Los Angeles resident. “Terrorism is intended to be scary and I think they’ve succeeded in frightening a lot of people.” UCR students speak out after Palestinian flags appear on campus While there have been no specific credible threats in Southern California, law enforcement including the Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles police departm...Palestinians flee northern Gaza after Israel orders 1 million to evacuate as ground attack looms

JERUSALEM (AP) — Palestinians began a mass exodus from northern Gaza Friday after Israel’s military told some 1 million people to evacuate toward the southern part of the besieged territory, an unprecedented order ahead of an expected ground invasion against the ruling Hamas militant group. The U.N. warned that so many people fleeing en masse — almost half the Gaza population — would be calamitous. Hamas, which staged a shocking and brutal attack on Israel nearly a week ago and has fired thousands of rockets since, dismissed the evacuation order as a ploy and called on people to stay in their homes. The evacuation order, which applies to Gaza City, home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, sparked widespread panic among civilians and aid workers already running from Israeli airstrikes and contending with a total siege of Gaza. Israel has cut off all food, water and supplies and caused a territory-wide blackout.“Forget about food, forget about electricity, forget about fuel.
